This is the English Translation of the abridged  Tarbiyatul Aulaad fil Islam of Shaykh Abdullah Nasih Ulwan.

It is a complete prescription for parents to raise children. It begins with marriage, husband and wife relationship and love for children both sons and daughters. It denounces the pre-Islamic custom of dislike of daughters. 

Throughout the book, the interst of Islam is emphasised on how one should act on the birth of a child. It teaches everything that must be done at the birth of a child, like tahneek naming, aqeeqah, etc.

At the same time it shows how children are disturbed psychologically when parents quarrel or neglect their children and if they lose a parent or both. The sphere of the training of children goes beyond religion to moral upbringing, physical education, intellectual elevation, community life and sexual education. This book touches on sports and physical activities and takes the child onto adulthood and earning a livelihood.

It is a complete course of life from birth to death.
