Josephs story is one of the most loved in Islamic culture. Here it is retold in Arabic for children and young adults. It tells how as a young boy, Joseph had a strange dream which foretold his prophethood. This dream and his fathers love for him aroused the jealousy of his other brothers who threw him down a well. He was rescued, only to be sold as a slave in Egypt. Through no fault of his own, he gets into trouble, with his master and i sthrown into prison. It is there that he realised he has a gift for interpreting dreams. When he interprets a dream for the Pharaoh, he is released and given a high position in the land.
The Three Shirts of Joseph has been translated from the English by Dr Taysir Kamleh PhD and approved by the Muslim College, London.
